About Densu
A Ghanaian POS company, built in Accra
Densu is built in Accra by people who have queued at the shop counter, waited for the barber and paid school fees in instalments. We make POS software for small businesses in Ghana.
The river
Why the name
The Densu River rises near Kibi and runs down through the Weija reservoir to the sea. Accra grew up around the water it brought. It is not the biggest river in Ghana, but for the city it is the one that matters every single day.
That is what we want for your business: something quiet and dependable that keeps things flowing. Money in, receipts out, a clear view of who owes you. Business flows here.
What we believe
Three things, done well
A food seller in Osu, a barber in Kumasi and a school in Tema all run on the same three things: taking payment properly, remembering the customer, and knowing the real number at the end of the month. The software should do those three things well and get out of the way.
So Densu runs on the phone you already own. It takes mobile money because that is how people pay. It sends receipts by SMS because that is what people read. It is billed monthly, with no setup fee, because that is how small businesses budget.
How we work
Small releases, often
We ship small and we ship often. Every feature listed on this site is live today; we do not list things that are coming soon. When something goes wrong, you get a straight answer from the person who built it.
Your data is yours. Staff accounts have roles so an attendant cannot see the whole till. Receipts can be verified by anyone with the link but show no more than a receipt should. If you leave, your records go with you.
Why Densu exists
A real place to put your goods
Most small sellers in Ghana sell from their status. They post a photo of the item, often with no price. A buyer has to message to ask how much, then gets sent a form to fill in, then is asked for a screenshot of the payment. Every sale is a conversation, and every conversation is a place where the sale can quietly die.
The storefront exists so an online seller has a real place to put their goods: a page with prices on it and an order button, where the customer picks, pays and gets a receipt without a single message. Appointments were built for businesses that work by booking, such as salons and barbershops, where the same back-and-forth happens over who is free at two o'clock.
The team
Who is behind it
Densu is built by a small team in Accra led by its founder, Ebenezer Twum-Koranteng. We have run our own service businesses and spent enough evenings matching mobile money alerts against a notebook to know what the problem is.
We are happy to be tested. Chat with us and ask your hardest question about the product; you will get a plain answer.
