Densu Cookie Policy
Effective Date: 30 April 2026 | Version: 1.0
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies Densu uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. This Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy (densu.shop/legal/privacy), which provides broader context on how we process your personal data.
By continuing to use the Densu Platform after the effective date of this Policy, you consent to our use of cookies as described herein. You may withdraw or modify your cookie consent at any time using the controls described in Section 6.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a web server when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device on subsequent visits and perform functions such as keeping you logged in.
Similar technologies we may use include:
- Local Storage / Session Storage: Browser-based key-value stores used to retain session state within a single browsing session.
- Pixel Tags / Web Beacons: Tiny transparent images embedded in pages or emails that signal when content has been loaded or an action has been taken.
- Device Fingerprinting: Where permitted and disclosed, a combination of browser and device attributes used for fraud and security analysis.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
We categorise our cookies as follows:
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. Without them, services such as login, session management, and payment security cannot operate. These cookies do not require your consent under applicable law, as they are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
3.2 Functional / Preference Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences and settings (such as your selected language, timezone, or display preferences) to provide a more personalised experience. You can disable these, but doing so may affect certain Platform features.
3.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how the Platform is used — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and where users encounter errors. This data is aggregated and anonymised where possible and is used solely to improve the Platform. We use analytics cookies only with your consent.
3.4 Security Cookies
These cookies assist with security functions including fraud detection, rate limiting, and identification of suspicious authentication activity. They are necessary for Platform security and operate alongside our backend security infrastructure.
4. Specific Cookies We Set
The following first-party cookies are set by Densu:
| Cookie Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
densu_sid |
Strictly Necessary | Authenticated session identifier (server-side reference; actual token stored in memory) | Session (cleared on browser close) |
densu_rt |
Strictly Necessary | Encrypted HttpOnly refresh token for silent re-authentication | 30 days |
densu_csrf |
Strictly Necessary | CSRF protection token to prevent cross-site request forgery | Session |
densu_pref |
Functional | Stores UI preferences (e.g., sidebar state, selected view) | 1 year |
densu_tz |
Functional | Stores detected or selected timezone for correct timestamp display | 1 year |
densu_anon_id |
Analytics | Anonymous session identifier for product analytics (contains no personal data) | 6 months |
densu_sec |
Security | Security fingerprint fragment used for anomalous login detection | 90 days |
Note: The densu_rt cookie is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Strict. It cannot be accessed by JavaScript and is transmitted only over HTTPS to mitigate token theft.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Third-party services integrated into the Platform may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies, and their use is governed by the respective provider's privacy and cookie policies:
| Provider | Purpose | Their Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Paystack Limited | Payment processing and fraud detection on payment pages | paystack.com/privacy |
| Sentry (error monitoring) | Captures anonymised error and performance data to improve stability | sentry.io/privacy |
| PostHog (if enabled) | Product analytics for understanding feature usage | posthog.com/privacy |
We require third-party providers to process data in accordance with applicable law and our data processing agreements. We do not permit third parties to use cookies set on our Platform for their own independent advertising purposes.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
6.1 Cookie Consent Banner. On your first visit to our marketing site, you will see a cookie consent banner allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies (functional and analytics). Strictly necessary and security cookies are applied regardless of this choice.
6.2 Browser Settings. You can control cookies directly through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies specifically, which is a privacy-preserving option that does not typically affect core Platform functionality.
6.3 Opt-Out of Analytics. To opt out of anonymous analytics tracking, you may disable the densu_anon_id cookie in your browser or contact privacy@densu.shop to request exclusion from analytics processing.
6.4 Do Not Track. Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" signal. Densu respects this signal for analytics cookies; it does not affect strictly necessary or security cookies.
7. Impact of Disabling Cookies
| If you disable... | Impact |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary cookies | You will not be able to log in or use the Platform |
| Functional cookies | Your preferences will not be saved between sessions |
| Analytics cookies | No impact on Platform functionality |
| Security cookies | Fraud detection may be impaired; you may face additional authentication challenges |
8. Data Retained via Cookies
Cookie data that constitutes personal data (e.g., a session identifier linked to your account) is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including the retention schedules set out in Section 10 of that policy. Anonymised analytics data is retained for up to 6 months before aggregation and deletion of raw session records.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we introduce new cookies, change providers, or in response to changes in applicable law. Updated versions are published with a revised effective date and version number. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance, except where law requires renewed consent for material changes.
